I have been fascinated by old, abandoned houses for as long as I can remember. Countless times, I have discovered and snuck into these places to explore and imagine the family or families that once lived in them. The mystery surrounding these structures is tangible and if a person stands still long enough, the walls will begin to talk.
These homes were once someone’s dream. Whether they were built from scratch or restored, a claim was staked on the place, and the people who moved in made it their own.
But what went wrong?
What is it that causes some people to leave their dream to rot, fester, and mold? And what drives the next visionary to make it their own? What happens when that dream becomes a nightmare?
Those questions and more are part of what I explore in Adverse Possession, my novel set to be released October 27, 2015.
Book Description:
The Forresters have found their dream home… So has something else.
After years of moving from place to place, Andy and Tess are ready to settle down. But from the day they moved into the sprawling Victorian house, something just wasn’t right.
The power cuts out twice a day on a fixed schedule. Windows unlock and open on their own. Strange scratching sounds come from behind the walls.
As the bizarre occurrences continue to increase in frequency and strength, the true source of the extraordinary activity is revealed.
What started as an enchanting curiosity has become a danger to them all, and the Forresters are in a race against time to save their family from an enemy unlike anything they have ever known.
