I have been contemplating posting something about Sandy Hook Elementary, but have struggled with what to say about it. It was a shocking crime in a place where the most vulnerable among us should feel safe and protected. It was an act of pure unadulterated evil, unlike anything many of us have seen in our lifetimes.
While I was shocked and horrified, I was not surprised. We live in a world ravaged by sin, where monstrous atrocities occur with alarming regularity. Many of us in the United States, or in the “civilized” world are sheltered from feeling the pain of this disease until it strikes in our own backyard. The whole world is hurting and whatever pain we feel today is nothing but a finger prick compared to the pain of God. He created us to be perfect, spotless beings, but we decided to do things the hard way.
He gave us the choice of free will, and he will not interfere with His perfect plan. We get to choose our fate. The sole cure for the sickness destroying the world is found in the only begotten son of God, our Lord and King, Jesus Christ. Until He returns, the faithful continue to fight the powers of darkness as they have from the beginning of time.
But don’t lose heart. Remember that darkness cannot stand against the light. Remember that in the end, we win.
Revelation 21:4 – He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
